  • Preaching & teaching: Tim Davis

    Tim's served at the Chapel for over 30 years. He is married to Jan, who grew up in Alaska. He has been the teaching pastor since 1991, having served as Associate Pastor with his father-in-law, Wendell Terwilliger until then. Tim believes strongly in the primacy of the Word of God for all of life. Don't get him started talking about fly fishing or Pennsylvania Thanksgiving and pies memories.

  • discipleship & worship: Ken rosentrater

    Born in Iowa on the Mississippi River, attending grade school in the shadow of the Colorado Rockies, middle school in a small logging town in Idaho, and finishing high school in the Eastern Oregon desert, Pastor Ken gained early appreciation for the variety of beauty from the creative mind of God. Ken and his wife Annette returned to Alaska in February 2013 for their third "overseas" tour. Having served with the Chapel congregation 1995 - 2011, he is now Associate Pastor overseeing Discipleship and Worship ministries. He loves being a granddad, and is happy to have substitute grand kids in his life. Ken loves whole-hearted worship of the Lord, enjoys travel, photography, writing, and cars. He believes the most important aspect of living is relationship.

  • youth director: tyler jackson

    Tyler was born and raised here in Anchorage, Alaska. He met his wife Kristin while attending Wheaton College in Illinois. After graduation they moved back to Alaska and Tyler began teaching Bible at Grace Christian School. In 2014 Tyler, in addition to his ministry at Grace, moved into the Youth Ministry position here at Chapel by the Sea. He has a passion for discipling young people and instilling them with a passion for God’s Word. Tyler, Kristin and their children, Clayton, Hope, Aleya, and Eden love camping, fishing, hiking, boating, and just about anything else outdoors in Alaska.

  • office manager: mary glover

    Mary and her husband, Tom, came to Alaska in 1996 and lived in Seldovia for 12 wonderful years. Upon moving to Anchorage in 2010 they visited Chapel By The Sea the first Sunday and just remained at Chapel. "We love this Church." Mary has held former positions as a Legal Assistant, Corporate Officer, Engineers' Project Administrator and Office Manager. She greatly enjoys the "Information Age" technology. Some of her hobbies include photography, playing the violin, quilting and gardening. She attended the University of New Mexico and Western New Mexico University many aeons ago. 

  • communications: shirley johnston

    Shirley grew up in the Anchorage area and began attending Chapel by the Sea with husband Dave and their four children in 2001. Over the years she has held a variety of positions in ministry and the community, ranging from church librarian to educational broadcaster.  With her children now adults, Shirley has retired from her favorite career of stay-at-home mom and these days can often be found keeping company with her chickens and dogs. 

Elders

Our elders serve for terms of 3 years, giving them opportunity to evaluate life and ministry each term, yet providing stable, consistent elder oversight for the church. Each term the men are asked to re-consider their assignments. If one feels the need to step out of the active elder role he can do so.
