November 7, 2020: Sunday School is cancelled until further notice.

The closure will continue at least through November.  Updates will be posted here and emailed to the Chapel congregation.

    September 4, 2020: Children's Ministry Reopening Update

We are excited to announce almost all of our Children’s Ministries will be reopening in person on Sunday, Sept. 13th.  Jr. Church is a maybe right now pending volunteer help.  Sunday School hour nursery will not be open at this time, but all other ministries will be up and going.  All classes for Sunday School, and the 11:00 Nursery and Toddler ministries will be starting up again! This is kind of an informational note to update parents on what to expect upon coming back.  Here are some of the general safety procedures that are going to be taking place for all ministries to the best of their age level abilities of course.

    • Kids will be encouraged to maintain an arm’s length distance between people as much as possible (toddler and nursery room free play times this be more difficult)
    • Individual crayon boxes will be provided, labeled, and stay at church so children have their own personal supplies.
    • When using community supplies hand sanitation will take place prior to using them.  Hand sanitizing between transition times will be encouraged.
    • Adult helpers will be asked to wear face coverings/shield when not distanced.
    • Floor circles will be used to place kids on to help with distancing where needed.
    • Windows will be opened for fresh air circulation.
    • Children may not participate if they, or anyone they have been in contact with have had any Covid symptoms in the last 3 days.  These have been posted in CBTS mid-week emails for some time and can be found there.
    • Children are not mandated to wear masks, but are definitely allowed to.  However, upon entering the buildings on campus everyone is being asked to wear a mask until they are in their designate locations and distanced, so they should have a mask with them.  If kids for some reason need to face to face, they may be asked to mask up briefly (except in nursery in toddler room, that will not be happening unless parents put masks on their child), so having masks with them would be helpful.
    • Our biggest safety comes in not having children with symptoms participating.  We are trusting parents to be extra diligent about this during this time period, just as we have been for those coming to in person church.  Let’s show love and sensitivity to our brothers and sisters by staying faithful to this.
    • Jr. Church during second service (if volunteers are found) will change to K-3rd grade.  We will also ask that parents walk their children over to the other building to sign them in each week rather than just dismissing them to leave by themselves.
    • For your child to participate in children’s ministries this year, there is a registration and release form you will need to fill out before they may participate the first time.  There will be a registration table out on Sept. 13th, so please look for that.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this, and a big thank you to all the volunteers who are jumping in to make this happen.  None of this would be possible without their willing servant hearts.  Please reach out with any questions you may have and I’d be happy to chat.  907-350-8751

Final Note: Please know that the safety measures being implemented may be changed or loosened in the future based off the elders’ decisions.

                                                                                                                                                          Brad Mondeel

    May 8, 2020: Children's Ministry Update

I know we are all getting excited to see some of the COVID restrictions lifted.  This is definitely true when thinking about children’s ministries as well.  Knowing what ministry will look like this summer and beyond is being figured out as there are still some level of unknowns as we are in new territory with a lot of differing research.  Rest assured the elders and the COVID-19 response team working behind the scenes to make wise decisions.

There have been no hard and fast decisions made, but we want to be prepared to roll into whatever ministry may be possible this summer, and with that comes the need of volunteers.

By signing up right now, you are NOT completely committed to anything as we all understand that things are very fluid and flexible at this point in the game.  However, we are HOPING to be able to facilitate the 2 groups of children’s ministries this summer which are:

    • Younger Kids Group:  2 years old - Kindergarten (5 graders helpers) in the upstairs room
    • Older Kids Group:  1st – 4th grade (downstairs in the fellowship hall.

PLEASE SIGN UP ONLINE below, remembering this is just in PREPARATION to be able to facilitate some level of Children’s Ministries face to face if possible this summer.

    April 15, 2020:  Children’s Ministry Opportunities from 4/19-5/17

Due to COVID 19 and not being able to gather together face to face, the children’s ministry opportunities have changed a little.  Thanks to some AMAZING volunteer teachers there are still going to be options for children 2 years of age through 6th grade.

There will be five different age group Zoom Video classes available.  They are detailed in the schedule below.  These classes will be continuing the Sunday School curriculum where they left off before COVID restrictions.  At this time ALL kids are welcomed and encouraged to join into their age leveled meeting even if they were not a part of Sunday School in the past.  Joining midstream will not be challenging and all children will still gain valuable teaching and good fellowship through the Zoom meetings.

So, in a nutshell, 11:00 service Toddler Church and Jr. Church participants can join into the Sunday School Zoom meetings per their grade levels in place of Toddler Church and Jr. Church for the duration of the school year, which will be May 17th.

Joining the meetings are as simple as emailing Brad Mondeel at bmondeelcbts@gmail.com and he will help you get a request into the right Zoom Meeting.  The classroom teachers will send out Zoom Meeting Invites through email.

For the classes rotating weeks to allow for device sharing and internet bandwidth limitations to not be a problem, the teachers may possibly be offering a class on a different day and time, and that will be communicated upon being part of the class.

Please ask questions about classroom Zoom meetings to your child’s teacher if you know who that is first, and if you can’t reach them, please email bmondeelcbts@gmail.com

    March 27, 2020:  Children's Ministry Resources

    Dear Kids and Parents,

As Director of Children’s Ministries, I want you to know that I and your child’s teacher(s) are praying for you all to stay healthy physically and spiritually through this time of social distancing we are all undergoing.  I have a couple of pieces of information to share with you. Below I have outlined some ideas for at home options.

We were not created to live by ourselves, but to live in community with other brothers and sisters in Christ.  So in this time, I want to encourage you to all stay connected to one another. Here are a few suggestions:

    • Call and text each other to stay connected

    • Let your kids face-time, skype, etc. with their church and school friends

    • Parents and Kids pick passages or chapters to read and talk about with friends via texting, email, social media, face-time and maybe make it a conference video call.

    • Memorize verses together (use the ‘Fighter Verses App’ that goes with the Sunday School curriculum)

As parents we are called to disciple and guide our kids in biblical teaching and biblical living.  Part of the process you have in place is the systematic teaching that takes place through Sunday School ministry and/or Jr. Church/Toddler Church ministries at CBTS.  In the immediate break in being able to meet together I wanted to give you a few trusted and vetted biblical teaching resource options to choose from and encourage you to share others with friends as well.  Here are some:

    • Focus on the Family

      • Adventures in Odyssey app (requires subscription for unlimited)

      • The Family Talk App

    • Keys for Kids app devotionals

    • Our Daily Bread app; Our Daily Bread Films app; ODB 365 Teens App

    • Jonathan Park unlimited app (requires a $10/month subscription) great science and the Bible audio adventures

    • Minno Kids App (steaming of Christian shows for kids--Phil Vischer’s Jelly Telly is the developer)

    • RightNowMedia App

      • Not all stuff through this resource is vetted and I ask that you use good biblical discernment and judgement as you choose what to use and work through

      • There’s a whole entire section dedicated to kids!

    • What’s In the Bible with Buck Denver videos https://whatsinthebible.com/www-jellytelly-com/

    • Theo Videos (whitestone media)

    • Lifeway Kids Resources https://www.lifeway.com/en/shop/ministries/kids

    • Truth78 Fighter Verses App--scripture memorization tool

    Trusting in our Sovereign God,

    Brad Mondeel

Children's Ministry Leaders:  Please ignore all automated Planning Center updates until further notice.

March 11, 2020:  Summer Ministry News

The Elders' desire is to be intentional in having some form of

children's ministry during the summer both for our regular
attenders and for those visiting. We also feel our regular Sunday School teachers deserve and will benefit from a break over the summer.

Due to these reasons, as well as the results of the surveys given in the fall, Sunday School will mirror what took place last summer, and in short, the changes are:

      • In lieu of adult Sunday school the elders are encouraging you to fellowship over coffee and treats with your brother and sisters in Christ between services.
      • Be on the lookout for some info on Sunday Brunches between services.
      • Children's Ministry will intentionally shift times to during second service only.

Here's how that will look for the children. We will have just two groups during second service only and they will be:

      • Younger Kids Group:  2 years old - Kindergarten (5 graders helpers) in the upstairs room
      • Older Kids Group:  1st – 4th grade (downstairs in the fellowship hall.

The normal group singing time will look different as well.  For the summer the older kids will be in worshiping with adults and released after scripture reading. The younger kids will be allowed to be in their class the whole service and will have a singing time during their class.

      •          Last Sunday School date before summer: May 17
      •          First Sunday School date after summer: Sept 13
